La Rochelle
La Rochelle is a city that combines cultural and leisure activities, fun and history-filled visits, as well as idleness and relaxation. We recommend you take a stroll through the streets and discover all the treasures of La Rochelle: the old town, the Halles, the beaches and the Old Port.
See La Rochelle’s towers: de la Lanterne, de la Chaîne and Saint-Nicolas, visit the La Rochelle Aquarium and Saint-Louis Cathedral. The city is famous for its many museums: the Musée Maritime, the Musée des Beaux-Arts, the Bunker de La Rochelle and the Muséum d’Histoire Naturelle.
La Rochelle is also renowned for its festivals, including the Francofolies, the International Film Festival and the Grand Pavois.
The island of Ré
In just a few minutes by car, or by taking an inter-island cruise, you’ll be on theIle de Ré. You won’t be indifferent to the natural, maritime charm of the Ile de Ré.
You can visit the island’s many treasures, including the Phare des Baleines lighthouse, the Bois-Plage-en-Ré market, the Atelier Quillet, the Châteliers abbey and Fort La Prée.
Rent a bike or a boat and explore the natural beauty of the Ile de Ré, including the Lilleau des Niges National Nature Reserve and the salt marshes.
Châtelaillon-Plage
Just a few kilometers from our seaside campsite in L’Houmeau, discover the seaside resort of Châtelaillon-Plage. This little corner of paradise will charm you with its 3 kilometers of beach, its many water sports activities and its Casino.

Rochefort
Rochefort is a city of art and history just 1 km from our campsite with water park in Charente-Maritime, Au Port de L’Houmeau.
Here, you’ll discover Rochefort’s maritime past, with its Corderie Royale, a former factory supplying the Royal Navy with ropes. Rochefort is also home to the Hermione frigate.
The island of Aix
Ile d’Aix is a haven of peace, untouched by pollution. You can only get around on foot or by bike.
The island is also famous for having welcomed Napoleon from July 12 to 15, 1815. Numerous relics and treasures of his stay are preserved and on display in the museum.
Oleron Island
Discover theisland of Oléron, the largest island on the Atlantic coast. The island of Oleron is famous for its mimosas and oyster beds. You can also stroll around the island and discover many other of its treasures, such as its sandy beaches, pine forests, the Maison de l’Huître in Saint-Trojan-les-Bains, the fishing port of La Cotinière and the Chassiron lighthouse.
Off the island, you’ll see Fort Boyard, which you can get closer to by boat.
The Marais Poitevin Regional Nature Park
The Marais Poitevin wetlands are a vast protected area of wild flora and fauna. You’ll find sandy beaches, dunes, forests, cliffs, mudflats and marshes.
We particularly invite you to discover the Venise Verte, classified as a “Grand site de France”, and the Abbaye de Maillezais, classified as a historic monument.
The Mervent-Vouvant forest
The Mervent-Vouvant forest, with its countless oak trees, stretches over 5,000 hectares. Here you can see the vast expanse of water formed by the reservoir of the Mervent dam.
This forest will delight young and old alike, and offers a wide range of outdoor activities such as horse riding, hiking, mountain biking and water sports.
Fontenay-le-Comte
Fontenay-le-Comte is a charming town of Art and History, inviting you to take a trip back in time.
Stroll through the streets of the town center, observing, visiting and photographing historic monuments such as Place Belliard, arcaded houses, townhouses, timber-framed houses and Notre-Dame church.
